Texas Creator Sweepstakes · DFS Guide

How Mintbook DFS
Actually Works

Every contest type, the two-token economy, how we operate legally in Texas, and how skill — not luck — determines who wins.

⚖️ Legal Framework

Texas Sweepstakes DFS Model

Mintbook is built specifically around Texas law. We are a skill-based sweepstakes platform — the same legal model as DraftKings and FanDuel, adapted for the creator economy and prediction markets.

📜

No Purchase Necessary

  • Every Mintbook contest has a free alternate entry method (AMOE).
  • FanCredit (FC) tokens can be earned free via daily bonuses, referrals, and FC faucets — no payment required.
  • BlackBook (BB) tokens are redeemable sweepstakes tokens, not wagers. Entering a BB contest is redeeming a promotional token, not placing a bet.
  • This satisfies the core requirement of Texas Business & Commerce Code §621 sweepstakes rules: no consideration (purchase) is required.
🧠

Skill-Based Determination

  • Texas law distinguishes between chance-based gambling and skill-based contests. Mintbook outcomes are determined predominantly by player knowledge and skill.
  • Contest results are calculated from real-world statistical data (live scores, player stats, verifiable events) — not random number generation.
  • Leaderboard placement reflects the quality of a player's predictions relative to the full entry field — skilled forecasters consistently outperform the field over time.
  • This satisfies the Texas "skill test" exception: contests where skill materially determines the outcome are not subject to gambling prohibitions.
🏛️

Sweepstakes Legal Model

  • Mintbook operates as a promotional sweepstakes — the same model used by major brands (McDonald's Monopoly, Coca-Cola, Publishers Clearing House) for decades.
  • FanCredit has no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for cash. It is purely an entertainment participation token.
  • BlackBook (BB) tokens are issued as promotional prizes, not purchased. Their redemption path follows the standard sweepstakes payout model.
  • Mintbook is not a sportsbook, casino, or daily-fantasy gambling site. We are a creator-economy sweepstakes platform.
⚖️

DFS-Specific Texas Framework

  • Texas HB 2303 (2023) formally authorized Daily Fantasy Sports as skill-based contests, exempting qualifying DFS operators from gambling statutes.
  • Mintbook contests qualify because: entries reflect participant skill; results are not determined by the performance of a single real-world team; no single participant controls the outcome.
  • BB market contests (e.g. "Will MrBeast hit 200M views?") operate as prediction markets — explicitly permitted under the skill-contest carve-out when outcomes are verifiable and skill-determinable.
  • We maintain full compliance documentation and cooperate with the Texas Racing Commission as required.

⚠️ Mintbook is NOT a sportsbook, casino, or parimutuel betting operator. FanCredit (FC) has no cash value. BlackBook (BB) tokens are promotional sweepstakes prizes. No purchase is necessary to participate. Void where prohibited.

🪙 Token Economy

Two-Token System

Two tokens. Two purposes. One for playing, one for winning.

🎮

FanCredit (FC)

Entertainment Token — No Cash Value
Value$0.01 USD equivalent (not redeemable)
100 FC =$1.00 in contest entry power
PurposeEnter FC-tier contests, fund leaderboards
Free to earn?Yes — 1 FC/day free, referral bonuses, faucets
Cash out?No — FC is entertainment-only, like arcade credits
NetworkBlackBook L2 (off-chain, instant)
Backed byMintbook contest prize reserve pool

Why FC has no cash value: This is what makes Mintbook a sweepstakes and not gambling. FC is consideration-free — you're not wagering real money when you enter an FC contest. You're spending entertainment credits, just like tokens at a Dave & Buster's.

BlackBook (BB)

Redeemable Sweepstakes Token
Value$0.10 USD — real, redeemable
100 BB =$10.00 USD cash value
PurposePrediction market stakes, prizes
Free to earn?Yes — win FC contests, dealer bonuses, airdrops
Cash out?Yes — after 1× playthrough requirement
NetworkBlackBook L1 (Solana-based, on-chain)
Backed byL1 reserve vault (auditable on-chain)

Why BB is legal to redeem: BB tokens are issued as sweepstakes prizes from skill contests — the same legal mechanism as Publishers Clearing House prizes. The 1× playthrough requirement ensures tokens are earned through skill participation, not purchased as wagers.

🎮 All Contest Types

13 Ways to Play

Three skill tiers. Every format is skill-determinable — no random number generators, no house-edge spin mechanics.

Entry Level
Intermediate
Advanced
🎯

Match Pick

Entry LevelBeginner

Choose the winner of a match, or answer a binary yes/no proposition (e.g. "Will MrBeast's video hit 200M views?"). Simplest format — single pick, single outcome.

Scoring

Correct pick = full payout at LMSR market odds. Odds shift dynamically as more bets come in.

Example

Pick "Yes" on MrBeast 200M views. If correct and your entry was at 35% implied probability, you win ~2.86× your BB stake.

⚖️

Over / Under

Entry LevelBeginner

A stat line is set for a player or event (e.g. "Mbappe Goals: 1.5"). You predict whether the actual result goes OVER or UNDER that line.

Scoring

Winner-takes-pool split by all correct entries, proportional to entry count.

Example

Line: Mbappe shots on target 3.5. He takes 5 shots → OVER wins.

🎲

Prop Parlay

IntermediateIntermediate

Stack 2–8 individual Over/Under props into a single entry. ALL picks must hit to win the full prize. Each correct leg multiplies the payout.

Scoring

Payout = entry fee × multiplier. Multiplier scales with number of legs and implied odds. Partial hits pay nothing on a standard parlay (power-up variants allow flex scoring).

Example

3-leg parlay: Haaland 1+ goal (70%) × Son 2+ shots (60%) × match over 2.5 goals (58%). Combined odds ≈ 24%. Miss one → $0.

📊

Accumulator

IntermediateIntermediate

Pick 3–5 Over/Under props. Scored by how many you hit — partial credit is awarded. Top scorers split the prize pool.

Scoring

Leaderboard ranked by # correct picks. Ties broken by average confidence (higher odds picks score bonus points).

Example

5-pick accumulator, you hit 4/5. If most players hit 3 or fewer, you finish in the top payout tier.

📋

Salary Cap Draft

AdvancedAdvanced

Build a roster of real-world players under a fixed salary cap (e.g. $50,000). Each player earns fantasy points from their live in-game stats. Highest-scoring roster wins.

Scoring

Points awarded per stat category (goals, assists, saves, etc.). Full DFS scoring rubric applies. Top % of entries paid out.

Example

Cap: $50K. Draft Salah ($9,800) + Cancelo ($4,200) + 4 others under $36K. Salah scores a hat-trick → 48 pts → you win.

🃏

Tiered Draft

AdvancedAdvanced

Players are grouped into 4–6 tiers by projected performance. Pick exactly one player from each tier — no salary cap, just tactical selection.

Scoring

Total fantasy points from selected players. Higher tiers have higher ceiling/floor. Leaderboard payout structure.

Example

Tier 1: pick Mbappé or Haaland. Tier 2: pick a midfielder. Tier 3 through 5: fill the rest. Best combined score wins.

🎯

Bingo Grid

IntermediateIntermediate

Receive a 5×5 grid of real event moments (e.g. "Corner kick in first 10 min", "Mbappe scores from outside box"). Complete rows, columns, or diagonals to win.

Scoring

Points per completed line. Bonus for full blackout. Grids are generated algorithmically from event data — no two are identical.

Example

World Cup game: your grid includes "Goal in extra time" — Modric scores in 94' → line completed → bonus prize.

🔮

Moment Predictor

AdvancedAdvanced

Predict specific timestamped in-game moments before they happen (e.g. "First goal will come in minutes 31–45"). Narrow windows = higher multipliers.

Scoring

Points scored on precision of prediction. Tighter windows (5-min range) earn 3× base vs. loose windows (30-min). Leaderboard payout.

Example

Pick "Goal in 31–45 min". Salah scores in 38' → precision hit → maximum points.

📈

Momentum Trader

AdvancedExpert

Live-entry contest. As the event unfolds in real-time, you buy/sell synthetic positions on player performance momentum. P&L at final whistle determines ranking.

Scoring

Mark-to-market P&L using LMSR pricing. Buy early when odds are low → sell when momentum peaks → profit. Closed positions crystallize gain/loss.

Example

Son starts slow (momentum = 20%). You buy 50 units at $0.20. At half-time Son is dominant (momentum = 75%). Sell at $0.75 → +$27.50.

🛡️

Survivor Pool

IntermediateIntermediate

Each round, pick one team/player to win. If correct, you survive. One wrong pick and you are eliminated. You cannot reuse a pick once used.

Scoring

Last survivor or all survivors split the pool. Week-by-week elimination.

Example

16-person pool. Round 1: pick Arsenal. They win → survive. Round 3: pick Real Madrid (risky, but haven't used them) — they lose → eliminated.

🏆

Tournament Bracket

Entry LevelBeginner

Fill out a full competition bracket before it begins. Points awarded for each correct result, with later rounds worth more. Perfect bracket wins the jackpot.

Scoring

Round of 32: 1pt. Round of 16: 2pt. QF: 4pt. SF: 8pt. Final: 16pt. Perfect bracket: 10× jackpot multiplier.

Example

World Cup bracket: you correctly predict England reach the QF, France win it all. Rare picks earn upset bonus points.

⚔️

Stat Duel

Entry LevelBeginner

Two players, one stat category. Pick which one will perform better. Simple head-to-head format — ideal for newcomers.

Scoring

Winner picks split the pool equally. No leaderboard complexity.

Example

Haaland vs Mbappé: goals scored today. Pick Haaland. Haaland scores 2, Mbappé scores 1 → your entry wins.

🤝

Head to Head (BB)

Entry LevelBeginner

Direct 1v1 challenge against another user. Both enter the same contest. Higher score takes the pot (minus platform fee).

Scoring

2-player zero-sum. Winner gets ~1.8× entry (10% rake split between prize pool and platform).

Example

Challenge @rival to a 10 BB head-to-head. You both pick Over/Under on the same prop. Your pick hits → you win 18 BB.

🔄 Contest Lifecycle

From Draft to Payout

Every contest moves through four phases. Here's what happens at each stage.

📝
Draft

Contest is created and awaiting initial liquidity. Anyone can fund the prize pool. Entries are not yet accepted.

🟢
Active

Prize pool is funded. Entries open. Players can join, make picks, and trade positions (on live markets).

🔒
Locked

Lock time reached — no new entries. The event is in progress. Momentum Trader contestants can still trade live.

Settled

Event completed. Oracle resolves outcome. Winnings are calculated and distributed automatically to player wallets.

💡

Funding Draft Contests

Draft contests need initial liquidity before they can accept entries. Any user can contribute BB to fund the prize pool. Funders earn a percentage of the rake (platform fee) from all entries as a reward for providing liquidity. This is similar to how liquidity providers work in a prediction market — you're making the contest possible and sharing in the platform revenue it generates.

◈ BB Prediction Markets

How BB Markets Work

BB Markets are prediction markets powered by the Logarithmic Market Scoring Rule (LMSR). Unlike fixed-odds sportsbooks, odds update dynamically based on crowd behavior.

📐

LMSR Pricing

Prices are set by the Logarithmic Market Scoring Rule — a proven mechanism used by Google, Microsoft, and academic prediction markets. The more BB staked on an outcome, the higher its price rises and the lower the payout.

🔄

Dynamic Odds

Odds are not fixed when you enter. They reflect the collective wisdom of all participants. Early entrants at favorable odds capture higher potential payouts. This rewards research and timing.

🤖

AI Resolution

Markets resolve via Perplexity AI Sonar with configurable confidence thresholds. The AI queries real-time data sources and returns a verified outcome. High-stakes markets use a 0.95+ confidence requirement.

◈ LMSR Price Formula

cost(q) = b × log( Σ exp(qᵢ / b) )
where: b = market liquidity parameter · q = shares outstanding per outcome
  • 1 BB = $0.10 USDEach BB token is worth ten cents.
  • 1 LAMPORT = 0.00001 BBSub-unit precision for fractional shares.
  • b = 100 (default)Liquidity parameter. Higher b = flatter odds, more liquid market.
  • Max loss for market maker = b × ln(N)Where N = number of outcomes. Capped downside.

DFS & Legal FAQ

Is Mintbook legal in Texas?

Yes. Mintbook operates as a skill-based sweepstakes platform. Texas law (HB 2303, 2023) explicitly permits DFS contests where outcomes are skill-determined. We also satisfy the sweepstakes "no purchase necessary" rule — free FanCredit is available to all users daily.

What makes it skill-based and not gambling?

Outcomes are determined by real-world statistical data, not random number generators. A skilled predictor who studies player form, injury news, and historical data will statistically outperform a random guesser over time. Courts and legislators recognize this distinction.

Can I win real money?

Yes. BlackBook (BB) tokens are real-value sweepstakes prizes worth $0.10 each. After earning BB through skill contests and meeting the 1× playthrough requirement, you can redeem them for cash. You don't need to purchase anything to earn BB — the free FC daily bonus gives you a path.

What is the 1× playthrough requirement?

To redeem BB tokens, you must first use them in at least one contest entry equal to their value. This prevents abuse of the promotional prize system. It's the standard sweepstakes playthrough used by all major platforms.

How is a BB Market different from a sportsbook bet?

In a sportsbook, you bet real money at fixed odds set by the house. In a Mintbook BB Market, you stake promotional sweepstakes tokens at LMSR dynamic odds set by other participants. No real money is wagered. The outcome is determined by verifiable real-world data, not a game of chance.

What happens if a market can't be resolved?

If the AI oracle cannot determine a result with sufficient confidence, the market is flagged for manual review. If resolution is genuinely impossible (e.g., event cancelled), all stakes are refunded to participants' wallets at the original entry price.

Who can I contact about legal questions?

Email legal@Mintbook.com. We maintain full compliance documentation and have counsel familiar with Texas DFS and sweepstakes regulations.
